Amazon Valley jasper is a rare material that was mined in small quantites about 20-30 years ago in Mato Grosso, Brazil. A hard jasper, is was found as river-worn cobbles which when cut revealed amazing painterly colors and patterns that rivaled some of the best jaspers in the world. Seldom seen today, this slab came from an old collection and will make beautiful cabs or a display on its own.
